Programming Officer, Orion Kinkaid- talked about the changes in the studio tours to Blacktop Creative, Muller + Co. and Ress Masilionis Turley on Sept. 14th. Sign up for tours contact Orion {for more information Membership Officer Chi Hiu - went over AIGA membership fees and Prototype fees. We need 20 students to become new members or renew by Sept 30. Fee will be $50 instead of $75. Give $$ to Amy Rottinghaus. Contact Amy if you have any questions. Vice President, Laura Rottinghaus - announced the mentor critiques on Sept. 19th from 6-9 pm in the downstairs 200a lab. Seniors will be critiquing work from sophomores and juniors. AIGA events mentioned: CS3 workshop, AIGA uncorked, Lecture: what happens when the grid falls, A4 awards due in Oct. Prototype networking event after studio tours on Sept. 14th at Laura and Amy's. Details to come. Jane Adams gave a slide show and talked about her study abroad in Trier, Germany. Q/A followed. Membership Officer, Chi Hiu talked about membership benefits of AIGA and prototype. 2. Vice President, Laura Rottinghaus described the mentorship program. One or two upperclassmen were paired with a sophomore in the program. Discussed having a critique before the sophomore's first project is due. If you still want to sign up for mentorship, contact Laura Rottinghaus (lauraar@ku.edu). 3. Guest Speaker, Popstar Networks (popstarnetworks.com) showed their interactive portfolio and described the challenges of the motion graphics business. They are also looking for an intern. For more information contact Maria Scarpello (marias@popstarnetworks.com). 4. Discussed Upcoming Studio Tours. (Blacktop Creative, Mainline Printing, HOK, Hallmark, MK12) Sent around a sign-up sheet. Contact Orion (orion.kincaid@gmail.com) or Chi Hiu (yimchihiu@gmail.com) to sign-up. 5. Orion talked about the lake trip on Saturday, Aug. 25. It was from 10 to 4 on Clinton Lake. 6. Discussed AIGA: NEXT Design Conference. More to come at next meeting... 7. Amy described the open secretary and social event correspondent positions. Secretary is in charge of keeping minutes and corresponding with the social event correspondent. The social event correspondent is in charge of emails and setting up social events. If you are interested, write a paragraph describing why you are interested, why you would be good for the position and anything you would contribute as a part of the prototype officer board. To sign-up for prototype or AIGA give your email to Chi Hiu Yim and membership fees should be given to treasurer Amy Rottinghaus (alr25@ku.edu). Prototype dues are $15 and AIGA is $50. If you are an AIGA member, the prototype fee is waived. ($50 will make you both a prototype and AIGA member!) Make checks out to prototype! 9.
